20 schools in rural or disadvantaged areas will receive support materials to modernise the delivery of music lessons through the „Ora de muzică rămâne în orar” pilot project, run by the Corul Național „Madrigal – Marin Constantin” through the Programul Național Cantus Mundi and supported by Loteria Română.
The „Ora de muzică rămâne în orar” project aims to include children and promote diversity and tolerance in schools by improving the teaching experience in music and choir lessons. Using modern support materials, the project offers teachers a range of innovative methods and practices useful both for face-to-face activities with children and for online education.
„Every child, regardless of their family background or the school they attend, should have access to high-quality, up-to-date, modern teaching techniques. Music education should provide children with a safe but enjoyable environment in which they can develop for the pleasure of it. Through the „Ora de muzică rămâne în orar” project, we are trying to give children a different experience of music lessons. With the kit proposed by the Programul Național Cantus Mundi, supported by Loteria Română, lecturers and conductors will have the tools they need to turn traditional music lessons into a continual source of joy.” – said Leila Popovici, Director of the Programul Național Cantus Mundi
Creating a special kit tailored to current educational requirements is a practical solution proposed by the „Ora de muzică rămâne în orar” project for running music lessons effectively. The kit developed through the project contains: Thomann Rainbow Deskbells, boomwhackers BW-DG, a tuning fork, a metronome, collections of scores and other materials. To implement the project’s pilot initiative, the Programul Național Cantus Mundi selected 20 partner schools on social and geographical criteria.
The „Ora de muzică rămâne în orar” pilot project therefore focuses primarily on rural schools and aims to reduce barriers that could lead to discrimination between pupils by creating an environment in which all pupils can develop together harmoniously. Classroom music-making becomes a source of inspiration for children and a means of preventing school dropout.
