„Shakespeare – sunet și cuvânt” Extraordinary Concert is a concept performance dedicated to the Elizabethan era, built around William Shakespeare’s artistic personality and the influence of his work on musical art throughout history. The concert features actor Emil Boroghină, founder of Festivalul Internațional Shakespeare in Craiova.
The concert combines Renaissance and contemporary music in the Madrigal Choir’s distinctive interpretation, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, with emblematic texts by William Shakespeare presented by actor Emil Boroghină. The event is being performed for Bucharest audiences for the first time, following its preview at the XIII edition of Festivalul Internațional Shakespeare in Craiova.
The concert concept was created by Emil Pantelimon, sound direction is by Gabriel Scîrlet, and Mihnea Stroe plays the piano.
The „Shakespeare – sunet și cuvânt” Extraordinary Concert forms part of a series of interdisciplinary events combining music, theatre and new media, presented to the public in the Spring Season – Madrigal 2024. It will be followed by the Extraordinary Easter Concert (11 April, 19:00 | Palatul Patriarhiei) and the „Madrigal cântă copiilor” Extraordinary Concert (2 June, 17:00 | Palatul Patriarhiei).
