MADRIGAL – Special Concert for Culture Day

On Tuesday, 14 January, from 19:00, Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin” invites the public to the extraordinary concert „MADRIGAL – DESPRE CULTURĂ”, in the Aula Magna at Palatul Patriarhiei.

The Madrigal Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, opens the concert year with an event celebrating national culture and Romanian creators. The extraordinary concert „MADRIGAL – DESPRE CULTURĂ” is structured as a journey through Romanian creative work from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries, presenting audiences with a collection of representative works from the nation’s cultural heritage. The Madrigal Choir’s special guests are actors Victoria Cociaș, Claudiu Istodor and Adrian Titieni.

Tickets for the concert are available on Bilete.ro.

Audiences are invited to a performance combining art forms: a journey through Romanian musical creation from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries, interspersed with some of the most remarkable essays by Romanian thinkers and cultural figures, performed by actors Victoria Cociaș, Claudiu Istodor and Adrian Titieni.

The repertoire of the extraordinary concert „Despre Cultură” includes both early Romanian music, such as works from „Codex Caioni” – the collection compiled by Transylvanian Franciscan monk Ion Căianu and arranged by Constantin Rîpă – and excerpts from the celebrated „Florilegiu Bizantin” assembled by Maestro Marin Constantin, as well as modern and folk-inspired works by Mihail Jora, Alexandru Pașcanu, Paul Constantinescu, Marin Constantin, Cornelia Tăutu and Corneliu Cezar, alongside emblematic texts by Titu Maiorescu, Emil Cioran and Zoe Dumitrescu-Bușulenga.

The event concept is by Emil Pantelimon, lighting design is coordinated by Mircea Mitroi, and sound direction by Gabriel Scîrlet. Abel Corban performs on piano.

The extraordinary concert „MADRIGAL – DESPRE CULTURĂ” is also the first event in the anniversary programme „Marin Constantin 100”. In 2025, the Madrigal Choir celebrates 100 years since the birth of its founder, Marin Constantin (1925 – 2011), with an extensive series of cultural projects and events taking place throughout the year.
