Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, one of the best-loved and most respected emblems of Romanian culture, embarks on a memorable musical journey to Kazakhstan, from 2 – 12 May 2025, at the invitation of Ambasadei României în Republica Kazahstan and with the support of Rompetrol.
„Corul Madrigal’s tour in Kazakhstan is more than an artistic presence: it is an act of cultural diplomacy that speaks of deep connections and shared values. In a region with a remarkable historical heritage, Madrigal brings a unique voice, one that comes with respect, friendship and a sincere desire to build lasting bridges between cultures. It is a personal joy and a diplomatic honour to facilitate this meeting between the harmony of the European Renaissance and the profound resonance of Central Asia”, says Her Excellency Mădălina Lupu – Romania’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.
The tour’s main event will take place on the stage of the prestigious Opera din Astana, where Corul Madrigal will present the special performance „Madrigal: Drumul Mătăsii”, in a unique setting created especially for the occasion. The tour programme includes the concert „Madrigal for Babies”, an original Corul Madrigal project, to be held at Muzeul Național al Republicii Kazahstan. At this interactive event, music becomes the first language of emotion, discovery and connection between child, sound and world.
„Rompetrol supports Corul Național de Cameră ‘Madrigal – Marin Constantin’ on a symbolic journey bringing together music, heritage and artistic excellence. The international tour in Kazakhstan is more than a cultural event – it is a bridge of energy and culture between Romania and Kazakhstan, two countries that Rompetrol consistently connects through economic partnerships and, increasingly, intercultural dialogue. Through this partnership, we support not only art at the highest level but also a form of sustainability focused on education, community development and preserving cultural values for future generations. Like energy, culture has the power to create strong connections, open up perspectives and build lasting bridges between seemingly distinct worlds and fields” – said Erik Sagiyev, CEO of Rompetrol (KMG International).
The tour also includes the official launch of the album „Imnurile Naționale ale Statelor din Asia Centrală”, to take place at Palatul Păcii și Reconcilierii in Astana. The project is the third series of national anthems produced by Corul Madrigal, following those dedicated to the European Union and Latin America, a profound gesture of cultural diplomacy, reaffirming how art and national symbols can coexist and strengthen ties between peoples. The launch will be followed by a Corul Madrigal recital.
In a tribute to world heritage, Corul Madrigal will make a special recording in the ancient city of Otrar, one of Central Asia’s oldest and most important cultural centres, part of UNESCO World Heritage.
This historic site, once a key hub on the Silk Road, will become the setting for a new episode in the international project „Muzică contemporană românească în spații antice universale”, alongside productions already filmed at Sarmizegetusa Regia, Machu Picchu and the Pantheon in Rome. In this symbolic setting, Corul Madrigal will perform selections from „Jocuri”, by Cornelia Tăutu – a piece specially chosen to build a bridge between contemporary sounds and the resonance of a place steeped in history and spirituality.
„Kazakhstan is a new stage for Madrigal. The tour is an artistic statement about harmony, respect and the courage to unite traditions. The Silk Road is no longer merely a historical route – it is a living line of dialogue between civilisations. With every step of this tour, Corul Madrigal will bring not only music to Kazakhstan, but also a shared emotion, a story of identity, harmony and openness. It is an honour to give voice to a mission that unites worlds through sound. We are deeply grateful to Ambasadei României în Republica Kazahstan for the invitation and vision, and to Rompetrol – our principal partner – for the trust and energy with which it supports this artistic endeavour. Together, we give meaning to the idea of a cultural bridge between East and West”, said Emil Pantelimon, manager of Corul Madrigal.
