The „Madrigal – Marin Constantin” National Chamber Choir and Centrul de Cultură Arcuș invite the public to discover artist Mihai Băncilă’s paintings, sculptures and graphic works at Galeria Madrigal, housed in one of Bucharest’s most beautiful homes.

The opening will be attended by artist Mihai Băncilă and art historian Vladimir Bulat. The event takes place on Wednesday, 15 October, from 19:00 at Casa Madrigal at Aleea Dealul Mitropoliei nr. 11, București.

Mihai Băncilă exhibits recent works created during his artistic residency at the Madrigal Choir’s rehearsals, alongside selected works from his personal collection, at Galeria Madrigal. Visitors will also be able to see up close the first work the artist dedicated to the Madrigal Choir: Trofeul Marin Constantin, presented annually by the ensemble for excellence in music in memory of Madrigal’s founder, conductor Marin Constantin.

The exhibition is open to visitors during the opening event and at weekends, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 15 October – 2 November 2025.

Visiting hours: SATURDAY 11:00 – 17:00 | SUNDAY 10:00 – 16:00

Admission is free.

„Mihai Băncilă’s exhibition is a very personal statement about the different means of expression the artist chooses to explore throughout his career. Dividing an artistic practice between poster design, sculpture, graphic art and painting (in Mihai Băncilă’s case), as artists often do, confirms that a well-rounded artist does not limit himself. Madrigal’s relationship with Mihai Băncilă began in 2019, when he created Trofeul Marin Constantin, and in October we were able to take this collaboration further with an exhibition that captures both the artist’s transitions, as its title suggests, and his perspective on the Madrigal Choir.” – Silvana Dulamă, curator of Galeria Madrigal

Housed in Casa Madrigal on Dealul Mitropoliei in Bucharest, Galeria Madrigal is a creative residency programme and a cross-disciplinary space dedicated equally to music and the visual arts. From March – December 2025, 10 contemporary artists are invited to create in the rehearsal room and then exhibit in the gallery for a month.

Galeria Madrigal forms part of the „Marin Constantin 100” anniversary programme. In 2025, the Madrigal Choir celebrates 100 years since the birth of its founder, Marin Constantin (1925 – 2011), with an extensive series of cultural projects and events taking place throughout the year.
