On Friday, 15 April 2022, at 19.00, Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin” will present the special Easter concert „Săptămâna Patimilor” at Casa de Cultură a Sindicatelor in Alba Iulia.
The performance in the welcoming auditorium of Casa de Cultură a Sindicatelor in Alba Iulia forms part of the Easter events through which Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin” marks this fundamental Christian feast.
The national tour „Săptămâna Patimilor” will visit Arad, Timișoara, Alba Iulia and Cluj-Napoca from 13 to 16 April 2022, responding to the many requests received from audiences over the past year.
„We invite audiences in Alba Iulia to welcome the holidays with light and good thoughts alongside Corul Madrigal. Our ensemble’s special Easter concert is a cultural constant for Romanians and one of the most important occasions in our emotional calendar. After this difficult period, we are delighted to meet audiences in concert halls. We hope the music performed by Corul Madrigal alongside children from the Cantus Mundi National Network will build bridges of communication and emotion, so necessary as the Resurrection approaches. The Easter concert in Alba Iulia opens the National Tour „Săptămâna Patimilor”, an initiative through which we wish to offer audiences around Romania a spiritual experience that goes beyond music” – said Emil Pantelimon, Manager of Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin.
Audiences are invited on a journey in sound in the lead-up to Easter through the repertoire specially chosen by Corul Madrigal’s Principal Conductor Anna Ungureanu. The programme includes Romanian works such as the celebrated „Florilegiu bizantin”, an impressive collection of Easter music assembled by the choir’s founder, Marin Constantin, alongside works from the international repertoire, including excerpts from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s impressive „Credo”.
„A feast such as Easter, celebrating kindness and the ultimate sacrifice, inspires us to offer a complex and profound repertoire, with beautiful spiritual compositions that connect audiences with its universal message. We hope to bring joy and warmth to the hearts of those who love music and wish to welcome Easter through its emotion” – said Anna Ungureanu, Principal Conductor of Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin.
The moving artistic experience on the cultural centre’s stage will be complemented by children’s choirs from Alba County active in the Cantus Mundi National Programme, who will sing alongside Corul Madrigal.
The special concert „Săptămâna Patimilor” will be enriched by specially devised stage direction and striking set design, including spectacular sets created for the event and light projections.
