About the performance
„Crăciunul Florilor” is dedicated to Romanian Christmas carols. The Madrigal Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, sings in the Aula Magna of Politehnica University of Bucharest, in a floral setting that accompanies the holiday’s musical themes.
We set out to sing carols
The first part explores the tradition of carol singing through melodies passed down through generations and arranged by Romanian composers. The announced selection includes „Florile dalbe” by Costică Andrei, „Floricica” by Francisc Hubic and „Coroană de trandafiri” by Gheorghe Cucu.
Christmas stories
The second part includes large-scale works, among them „Festum Hibernum” by Alexandru Pașcanu and „Două colinde românești” by Marius Hristescu.
Children from the Cantus Mundi choirs join the ensemble and audience in singing carols. The concert concept is by Emil Pantelimon.
