Registration opens for the project „Vacanță Activă în București la OCC și Cantus Mundi”, organised from 12-23 April 2021 by Opera Comică pentru Copii and the Cantus Mundi National Programme. The programme is free for participants and supported by Bucharest City Hall. The programme registration form is available online at bit.ly/ÎnscriereVacanțăActivăÎnBucurești2021.
Vacanță Activă în București is an original and much-needed experience for children, as well as a solution for Bucharest parents during this challenging period. The event takes place at three locations – the headquarters of Opera Comică pentru Copii (Calea Giulești, nr. 16, sector 6), the Madrigal Choir’s headquarters (Aleea Dealul Mitropoliei, nr. 11, sector 4) and the Cantus Mundi headquarters (Strada Ion Câmpineanu, nr. 28, sector 1) – and, for the safety of all participants, they will be allocated to two sessions per location, 08:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 17:00.
Bucharest pupils aged between 4 and 12 whose parents are going to work during this period (not working remotely) are eligible to participate. At least one parent must also have their permanent residence in Bucharest. To enrol their children in this programme, parents must complete the form mentioned above from 5-7 April. Children will be accepted in registration order, subject to availability. A child may attend only one group, in a single session, for the duration of this programme. The organisers will confirm registrations on 8-9 April 2021, and the project will run from 12-23 April 2021.
The aim of Vacanță Activă în București is to develop creativity through music, acting, stage movement and other educational activities. The programme provides access to first-rate knowledge from leading trainers who are themselves established professionals in their fields (musicians, conductors, actors, dancers and trainers): conductors and choral singers of the National Chamber Choir „Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, as well as vocal soloists, ballet dancers and instrumentalists from Opera Comică pentru Copii.
All necessary teaching materials are included, and medical assistance is provided at every location. Admission follows epidemiological screening, and each space is disinfected daily by nebulisation.
The project’s RULES are available HERE.

Opera Comică pentru Copii, a public cultural institution under Bucharest City Hall and the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest, received the Order of Cultural Merit at the rank of Officer, Category D – Performing Arts, from President Klaus Iohannis this year. It was the first to move its activities online immediately after the emergency measures introduced on 9 March 2020, and the first cultural institution with its own mobile app, featuring original performances and programmes.
The Cantus Mundi National Programme is Romania’s largest programme for social integration through music, initiated in 2011 by internationally renowned conductor Ion Marin and run with the involvement of members of the National Chamber Choir „Madrigal – Marin Constantin”. A decade after its launch, the Cantus Mundi community numbers more than 60.000 children and 1.630 choirs that are changing Romania through music right now.
