MADRIGAL: CRĂCIUNUL FLORILOR concert | 13&14 Dec

By public request, Corul Național de Cameră „Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, will also give the special concert MADRIGAL: CRĂCIUNUL FLORILOR on 13 and 14 December 2024, at 19:00, at Palatul Patriarhiei in Bucharest.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased online on Bilete.ro.

The carols performed by the Madrigal Choir, which over the years have become a symbol of Christmas for Romanians, will be heard this time in a space with immersive acoustics: Sala Aula Magna Teoctist Patriarhul at Palatul Patriarhiei. The miracle of the Saviour’s birth is heralded through music and through a unique floral setting full of freshness, colour and fragrance.

Gathered under the title „Noi pornim la colindat”, the carols chosen for the first part of the concert belong to Romania’s ancient tradition of carol singing. The selection explores the world of traditional carols, passed down from generation to generation and collected by Romanian composers, including „Florile dalbe” by Costică Andrei, „Floricica” by Francisc Hubic and „Coroană de trandafiri” by Gheorghe Cucu.
The repertoire for the second part of the concert, entitled „Poveștile Crăciunului”, brings together a series of works that tell a story, including „Festum Hibernum” by Alexandru Pașcanu and „Două colinde românești” by Marius Hristescu. Each musical story reveals the spirit of Christmas in its own way, rediscovered with such emotion through Madrigal’s music.
As every Christmas, children from Cantus Mundi choirs will join the Madrigal Choir and sing carols together with the audience.
