Marea Carte a Madrigalului

„Madrigal is the natural monument to the human voice in song.” – Nichita Stănescu

Launched at the Bookfest International Book Fair in 2023, the anniversary volume „Marea Carte a Madrigalului” is written by Mădălin Guruianu, with a foreword by Emil Pantelimon.

Produced to an exceptional printing standard, this comprehensive biographical volume is intended for specialists, music lovers and the readers intrigued and captivated by Madrigal, generation after generation.

Its more than 520 pages tell the story of an incomparable artist, Marin Constantin, and his extraordinary creation, the Madrigal Choir, which celebrated 60 years of existence on 11 April 2023.

Marin Constantin was a creator who, like a Demiurge, built from nothing an ensemble that truly won over the entire world. It continues to charm audiences even after the death of the genius who brought it into being, and now bears his name: the National Chamber Choir „Madrigal – Marin Constantin”.

Emotion is the common thread, and Madrigal has always stirred emotion, does so today and always will. The pages of this great book of Madrigal move anyone who leafs through them. They hold the emotion and respect of the past 59, and the enthusiasm and energy of the 1 to come. Because Madrigal is ONE of a kind!” – Emil Pantelimon, manager of the National Chamber Choir „Madrigal – Marin Constantin”.

The publication of „Marea Carte a Madrigalului” formed part of the MADRIGAL 60 anniversary programme, which featured more than 40 special events throughout 2023. The programme marked 60 years of uninterrupted activity, musical excellence and cultural diplomacy by the Madrigal Choir, which has become a symbol of Romania’s artistic continuity and of its cultural presence and image worldwide.
