Dear Conductor,

In view of the activities of choirs across the country enrolled in the Cantus Mundi National Programme, which involve organising choral rehearsals or artistic gatherings for children, young people and conductors in the Cantus Mundi community, and also the latest regulations issued by the authorities responsible for managing and limiting the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) infection in our country (Department for Emergency Situations, Ministry of Health, etc.), we offer the following clarifications and recommendations needed in the current context:

  • According to the authorities’ public statements of 8 March 2020, all „events at which fewer than 1.000 people are expected to participate may be organised only after approval has been obtained from the local public health directorates.”

  • Therefore, to continue choral or instrumental activities with the children and young people in the ensemble you lead – choral or instrumental rehearsals, artistic gatherings, celebrations, recitals or any other such gatherings with your pupils – please obtain approval to organise them from the Public Health Directorate responsible for your area.

To assist you with this, we are sending a template LETTER that can be downloaded here, which you should complete with correct, up-to-date information, according to the event you are organising (choral or instrumental rehearsals, artistic gatherings, celebrations, recitals or any other such gatherings with your pupils).

The Cantus Mundi National Programme regularly and responsibly monitors the situation across the country, the recommendations of the competent bodies and information available from official sources at the institutions involved in managing and limiting the spread of COVID-19 infection in our country: the Government, the Strategic Communication Group, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Department for Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We assure you of our full support so that the activities of choirs and choral or instrumental ensembles enrolled in the Cantus Mundi National Programme can continue during this period, while ensuring that the health of members of the choirs or choral or instrumental ensembles under this programme’s auspices is not endangered in any way.

Thank you,

Emil PANTELIMON
